Why do people here give awful advice? Is it just to get points?

Sometimes when I read the responses of these questions people sound incredibly cerebrally challenged. So I figured people were just answering any question just to earn points with no regard for getting the best and most proficient answer.


Unless, its a technical question then all the brainiacs come out of the woodwork.Why do people here give awful advice? Is it just to get points?
They could be:


1) point gaming - they aren't here to help others, but rather just to get points for themselves


2) trolls who are just here to cause trouble and create anger


3) perhaps they really didn't even bother to read your question, didn't understand you question, or just, frankly, not that intelligentWhy do people here give awful advice? Is it just to get points?
And you would be right most of the time. But at least some people are honest about it with responses like ';IDK'; and ';Thx 4 da 2';
Points are positive reinforcement. 'Nuff said!
For a few reasons:


1) Boredom


2) Because this is a free site


3) Because they want attention.


4) They just want to be heard.


Wether they are right or wrong


5) Your right they are point hungry. I think if there wasn't points involved there wouldn't be so many bad awful answer's.
