I told him last night to either stop picking fights with me when were drunk and save them for the next day, or its over, he refused to budge and now we're over. Except I feel SOOO low and sad, was I right in dumping him? I keep thinking he can change and he might, do people change?Breakup advice, can people change?
whhhyyy don't you stop getting drunk?
seems simple enoughBreakup advice, can people change?
Depends how bad the 'belittling' is. Is he arguing in a mean tone of voice (common) or is he calling you names and insulting you to hurt you on purpose (abusive). At any rate, I hope that you know that people take time to change and yes they can change but they have to want to. If he refuses to work on himself and you can't tolerate the behaviors then you were right to go. But if you gave up too quickly before he had a chance to change (and he said he did want to change) and didn't give him time and support than you are being unrealistic and unsupportive.
Everyone I know who would go out drinking when they were young would get into fights. Its either you were talking to someone else, dancing with someone, looking too hard at someone...who is she blah blah blah. Drinking to get drunk and relationships do not go together! You did the right thing to dump him,....he isnt going to change. Not only does he do it when hes drunk but continues the next day...which is totally strange. Its like he is pushing you away. Find someone else and quit the drinking thing, have a drink with dinner. THATS IT!
If someone belittles you and fights with you thats where you draw the line. You did the right thing by dumping him. You are better then that ;)(Y)

People do change but they have to want to change. You can't change him. It sounds like you did the right thing.
does the term ';mean drunk'; have any meaning for you? does the term ';black outs'; have any meaning??? stop drinking. problem solved
No people do not change, usually things just get worse. Move on and upward..do you want to put up with this all your life?
