However, I don't sugar coat it. I tell people what they need to know because M.S. is a very serious neurological disorder...but people give me thumbs down, or I don't get the answer right??
I think it's because people are in denial!
For example, this individual is like...Well....blah, blah, blah...I'm paralyzed, I think it's m.s....
AND my response is: You're wasting time, nerve damage is very unforgiving, you need to see a doctor!!
AND I GET A THUMBS DOWN!!!
Lord!
Why is this!?!I have M.S., and I give people advice about M.S. on Y/A?
You're right. People are in denial. If it's not good news, then they don't want to hear it. The vast majority of people are very close minded when it comes to their health. Sugarcoating is only a way to minimize the situation, and it's a good thing that you don't do that. But despite the thumbs down, people listen. You may not get the best answer in that sort of situation, but the good thing about it is that you are helping people, whether they, or you, realize it at all. If you tell them something negative about M.S., then they are going to think of that before thinking of something positive, and weigh their decision based on the negative info. You just have to keep in mind that it may seem that people are very ignorant, but they do consider the negative advice before the positive, although it may not seem like it. And people may not be as grateful as you would like them to be, but the good thing is that you are helping them. And that is a hero worthy action.I have M.S., and I give people advice about M.S. on Y/A?
My old mate has M.S. and he says a lot of people don't understand what it's like and they expect him to be like he used to be.
I understand his condition because I studied neurological disorders, but think yahoo is not really a great place to talk about these things.
there's alot of ignorance on here.
Some people are dramatic and uneducated. Other's just want to make sure their answer is perceived as more correct. I am in the same boat as you. I am educated in sexual health and it is so frustrating to see my answer given a thumbs down when I know it is correct. Like when a female asks basic thing about her anatomy and others try and act like my answer is wrong. You just have to brush it off.
